CRD STRATEGIC PLAN IN 2008
The CRD Strategic plan for year 2008 was held in the provincial town of Baidia .
Most of the staff were transported from the different offices in South/Central of Somalia ; Mogadishu Beledweyn and Kismanyo and gathered in Baidoa in order to enable them participating the programmatic direction of the next year. The senior management personnel and representatives of Board of Directors also took part the meeting.
The meeting was officially commenced on 21 st of November 2007 opened by Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, the director of CRD and concluded on 24 th . In the opening Jabril encouraged the staff to contribute valuable thoughts on the way forward the organization's long term development. “This is the right time each of us would provide his/her contributions towards improving our vision and goals by feeling free” Jabril said. Adding they, as management level, want each one of the staff to disclose his/her comments that might help the attainment of CRD's intended short and long term vision.
In addition, the participants were encouraged to present any weakness in the organization in order to rectify. “CRD belongs to Somali people, not to a particular group or individuals and therefore I would ask any of you to disclose freely the weaknesses or any mistakes noted to enable us the opportunity of noticing and correcting” Jabril said.
During the meeting the participants discussed significant topics and issues including the review and update of Vision, Mission , Core values and the working principles.
Moreover, the fundamental programmatic directions on which CRD would focus besides all other directions were discussed and finally the following areas were chosen.
Research and Policy Development
Peace building
Governance/Institution Building
Resource and Cultural Centre
Also SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats) reflecting on the areas that CRD will give its first focus and priority were discussed.
As a result of careful deliberations both in general and in groups the participants have been able to develop draft Vision, Mission , Core Values and Working Principles. The following are the draft developed product of the meeting which would be subjected to the approval of Board of Directors.
