After the
field trip of the first quarter of the year 2002, the CRD managers
and researchers team started to held group discussions and forums
in Mogadishu to update the urban communities (politicians, businessmen
and clan elders, etc) and at the same time prepare the ground for
group discussions and forums that will take place in Mogadishu.

These
group discussions and forums consist of different themes and subjects.
The aim of the themes varies from topic to topic as follows:
1-
Film presentation
The first film presentation and group discussion was held at CRD meeting
room on 1, April 2002.The aim of the meeting was to explore the real status
of Mogadishu community after the collapse of the state and the possibility
to invite rival faction groups and clan elders on the same table in order
to facilitate a concrete debate among them.
2-
Second film presentation
The second film presentation was held at Hotel Ramadan and its aim was
the same as the first one.
3-
Reconciliation
This group discussion is held on 21 July 2002 at Amira Hotel.
The aim of the discussion is to create neutral space where actors can
share views and concerns of the contemporary issues.
4-
Governance
The governance theme discussion took place at 24 July 2002 at Ramadan
Hotel. The Somali people having experienced irrational political competition
and corruption, participants discussed what government structure and system
is convenient for Somalia after a decade of anarchy.
5-
Privatization
The privatization topic is discussed on 27 July 2002. With the collapse
of the state all public institutions and the services they provide simply
came to an end.
Participants focused the advantages and the disadvantages of the new privately
run service sector.
6-
The Impact of war on society
The theme regarding the war impact is discussed on 31 July 2002.
The aim of the discussion was to raise and underline the negative attitudes
of the war to the Somali community living in urban and rural areas.
7-
The role of International Community in the collapse of Somali state
The issue of the International community's role is discussed on 6 August
2002, having as an object to raise the effect of the International Community
in the collapse of the Somali State.

Gender
After the downfall of the Somali State, the dual role of Somali Women
became one of the most argued issues of among the current society.
Hence group discussion which focused the women tasks and their participation
for the Political rebuilding of the country took place at 11, August
2002. |
9-Mogadishu
forum:
The future of Eldoret Conference
A forum aiming the prospective and the challenge of Eldoret Conference
is held on 1, September 2002.Participants raised the issues of possible
failure of the conference, because of the foreign intervention.

Women in Politics
This forum consisted of Women in Politics and its objective was to highlight
how Somali women can participate the present political attempts and how
they can contribute the peace building of the country.
The forum took place on 1, January 2003
12-Kidnapping
Many of the attendees of CRD meetings and forums suggested the necessity
to hold a forum regarding the dramatic and the deteriorating situation
of the kidnapping actions in Mogadishu city.
The aim
of the forum was to highlight the barbaric actions of the kidnappers who
their target is to create an income source through kidnapping ransom.
Some of the participants rose that kidnapping is becoming a kind of trade
and its dangers entered every strata of the society.
The forum was attended on 20, January 2003.

Somalia in Search of undiscovered options
The CRD organization having experienced the Eldored and Nairobi Somali
National Reconciliation Conference, pointed the importance of presenting
a forum concerning the present status of the Somali peace process.
The objective of the forum was to put in discussion the situation of Nairobi
conference and the heterogeneity of the International community views
involved in the Somali Reconciliation conference. The forum held in Amira
Hotel on 16 March, 2003
